happy halloween...

we had a happy Halloween this year and josh had a happy birthday!!! it was a busy day with lots of laughter and fun. Josh's parents, aunt, and nephew came and brought us lunch to celebrate Josh's big day. i totally spaced on taking pictures so you get to see everything that happened after lunch. Sid enjoyed wearing Jessie's wig!

we had quite the spread for the party, lots of deliciously spooky things. the punch had floating hands in it! we had a hand coming out of the veggie dip and some scary monster toes (cocktail wieners wrapped in crescent roll topped with ketchup for the toenail) and at Josh's request my brothers delicious spinach and artichoke dip! YUM!

BOXELDER INVASION!!!

well we have lived in this house a year now and last fall/winter we came to the conclusion that we have a boxelder bug problem. although we had no idea then what was in store for us. we had high hopes that with the early freeze it might take care of out little dilemma, much to our dismay it did not.

THEY ARE EVERYWHERE!!!

yesterday we took a family trip to the dundee nursery in plymouth to pick up some 'boxelder begone.' josh spent the next hour hosing our house down with this eco-friendly product (i will never understand how they can call something 'eco friendly' when it is killing some sort of species...not very friendly in my opinion.)

with high hopes that it did the trick i ventured out this morning with my little spray bottle and we had almost the same amount as we did yesterday...now we could not reach the hose to the garage and that is what is really COVERED, but i still thought we might have put a little bit of a dent in the problem but it looks like its much bigger then we could have ever imagined.

as of today i have killed 20 boxelders (in my house) in the last 48 hours. GROSS! i called a pest control place today for pricing and they are going to get back to me. any ideas? (sorry but i had to post pics just so you can see the seriousness of this problem... this infestation... this disgusting part of home ownership. seriously bring on the boxelder genocide...at least around our house!

well now that Sid is 2...

there are a lot of changes around our house in the past week. now that sid is 2 he has shown quite a big of interest in the potty. we also were given a big boy bed from our friends the Henstroms and Grandma Larson came through with the mattress for it! (thanks you guys!) last night was Sid's first night in his big boy bed, and he did a wonderful job! stayed in bed talking for a bit...his usual wind down time. then stayed in bed this morning til i came and got him.

I snuck in and took this after he fell asleep...so sweet and so still!

saturday night was the first big night of going on the potty! unfortunately we missed it because bumpa and nana were babysitting all 4 kids! our two, my roomates daughter and my other roomates son...we did receive this picture though while we were all out...ADORABLE!
